Hey there all. I ended up going to see the Colts training camp Sunday night. Pretty cool. Gonna post some of my observations on some of the players and what I saw. I’m thinking about going to the Colts training camp practice tonight, but I’m not sure. I don’t know if I want to drive 1.5 hours each way to see 2.5 hours of practice then come back home. But it’s either today or Monday. The rest of the practices are weekdays and stuff and who knows if I’ll have a job by then.

As for a job, if anyone out there reading this knows of anyplace that might be hiring web developers/designers or software developers/engineers, please let me know. I really really need a job. I’m thinking about getting a job at a bookstore (maybe Border’s) as something to do and also to have some income (even if it’s a little bit) once I stop getting severance checks in two weeks. We’ll see. Putting that Rose-Hulman education to use!! Lot of good it’s doing me now in this economy. Bah…

Well, gonna cut this short. I’m really hungy and I’m going to have a bowl of Blueberry Morning (the best cereal in the world!!!)

Yes.. yes it does. I’v ebeen hiding it well mostly, except for a bit I let out to Kyleane recently, but I am incredibly depressed. I don’t know why I’m even posting about it on here. I guess I’m using the world as my shrink, even though hardly anyone even reads this site. I just.. I really really hate my life right now. There’s not really much of anything I can say I am even happy about.

Sorry for the lack of updates people. I’v ebeen really busy doing the whole “job search thing”, which isn’t really going very well. The economy sucks large ass right now (Thanks Dubya!). I’ve sent out resumes to EVERYWHERE in teh US practically, so who knows where I could end up. I almost had a position at a place called NSI software here in town, but they are under a hiring freeze. Even though the person hiring (who I have worked for before) REALLY wanted me there, and there were a bunch of people from Tivoli (where I used to work) there, she couldn’t push it through. Too bad. It sounded like a great position.

I sit.

I sit and I watch and I winder - is this it? Is this the culmination of a life? Sitting on a soft yet strangely corporate couch, in a warm but corporate coffee shop, watching scores of happy looking people with fake Joker-smiles taped to their faces?

I see the middle aged couple that met fo rthe first time here. Obviously a hook-up or meeting someone off of online, or something like that. The guy came around a few minutes earlier askign if there was another Starbucks in the area. I guess he thought he’d been stood up. He wasn’t. Good for him.

hrow your hands in the air!

Yeah.. anyway, my cookout with my family turned out really good yesterday. My corn/mustard/cayenne rubbed steaks, smoked over charcoal and hickory chips kicked muchos assos (as they say in Spain). I also made some corn on the cob that I soaked in butter, water, salt and garlic salt for 12 hours and smoked along with the steaks. And boy were they hard to keep lit! thank you.. I’ll be here all week.. please try the veal! All in all it was a successful dinner. The steaks were SOOO tender from the rub and the smoking (they cooked on medium head in the smoker for about an hour and a half). Yummmmmmm.

Hey all. I know,it’s been like what, a week? I’ve been pretty busy with the job and hunt and I guess I’ve just kinda been out of it. Hope I haven’t lost the 2 or 3 readers I have.
Job search is going. I’m using Monster.com, Techies.com and my own old contacts to try and find something. You know what? The market is pretty crappy! I do have a good chance though with something at NSI Software. My old boss’ boss at Tivoli (who sold off the Indianapolos office to Peregrine who then eliminated my previous position there) works there. She’s head of Quality Assurance and Configuration Management. The position I would have would be a Configuration Management Analyst, analyzing data on their development processes, looking for improvements, looking for new and better ways to view the data, and other nifty stuff. Hopefully something comes of this (I should know next week). Wish me luck!

Well, what a day yesterday was. I get to work to an email from teh CEO (went to everyone) stating how we’d REALLY missed our quarterly revenues and that the “next few days might be really painful”. I knew then something was up. Well, at 9:30 I get a phone call from the CEO asking me to come to his office to talk. Greaaaaat. I was laid off, along with about 10% of the workforce.

Okay, so I didn’t get on here after the race. I ended up not bringing my camera, so I don’t have any pictures of the race up in Cleveland that I went to with Leah. It was a good time though. Cold as hell. That wind off the lake (the stands look right over the track into Lake Erie) was really cold. The race looked like it’d be a blow away for Memo Gidley, but he had to make a last minute stop for some gas and game within .3 seconds of winning. Funny, I can’t even remember who won now. Doh!! Leah and I had a great time though. Cleveland looks like a nice place too. I’m wanting to go again sometime and check out the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
