Just got back from my interview at Borders Bookstore. Went okay I think. Hopefully I can at least get a job THERE. That would be uber-pathetic if I couldn’t even get a job there. I don’t want to have to be that depressed.
The lady said I should know something as early as tomorrow or as late as Tuesday. We’ll see. If I get that job and then get a second job, maybe I can make enough to get by here in Indy and just live with less stress. More work, but less stress. Then I could wait for the right job to come along and maybe learn some new CS toys like Flash in my spare time.
Well, gonna go play with Flash, more. I’m working on a new version of the site which would all be in Flash. Dunno why, except it’s a good exercise for me.
Hey all you crazy kids. I know it’s been like a week. There’ sjust not much going on except the continued job search. I have an interview in a couple weeks for a job in Illinois with a structural steel company. Yeah, I know. I’d be the only IT guy for a new office they are opening in some podunk town west of Chicago, and I’d be doing some web development and stuff. We’ll see. I’m keeping my options open.
I have a new Plan though that I’m going to start researching. I’m thinking about picking a city (right now I’m thinking Denver, Portland or Seattle), finding a temp agency there, getting a job as a temp, and just moving. What other chance would I have to pick a city myself and go there? I’ve always wanted to live out west, so I’m going to look into it. My mom probably won’t be incredibly happy with the method of getting there (jsut picking a place and getting a temp job) but we’ll see. Gonna start research on that this weekend.

Hey kiddies! Went and saw a sneak preview of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back last night. Really really funny movie. I don’t want to say too much about it and give stuff away, but trust me, you really need to go see this movie. It’s just incredibly funny. Also, if you haven’t seen any of Kevin Smith’s other stuff, I recommend it too. There’s a bunch of inside jokes in the movie, but not so much that casual fans sit there scratching their heads. There werea couple parts I kinda cringed at thinking “okay, maybe that went too far” but that wasn’t enough for me to think negatively about the movie at all. Go see it.
NOW!
Okay, not now. This Friday, the 24th.
Okay, so I’ve been a major slacker lately. There just isn’t very much going on right now. Stills ending out a ton of resumes and getting no response. Panicking on how I’m going to pay rent, car, etc etc etc. Gah..
So this is going to be short. There just plain isn’t much to say right now. How boring, huh? I’ll close with this description of a job I found today on Monster.com:
“Park 100 company has lots of positions available for candidates who are familiar with computers. Candidates must be comfortable working with a mouse and has a familiarity with icons.”
Wow.. the applicant must have a familiarity with icons!!!! That’s gonna be tough to find!
Hopefully I’ll get the motivation to post more soon.
Well, since I finished Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk last night, I thought it was high time to try out a new book. This time, I’m reading a book suggested to me by someone (I can’t remember who) awhile ago when I was at Rose. It’s Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut. It was written in the early 50’s, but it has alot of applicability to today’s world and the future. Basically (from what I’ve read so far) it’s the story of a guy in the “near future” where machines pretty much do everything. Society has been broken down into the people that do the thinking, and the people that do the labor that can’t be replaced by machines. The people who were displaced either are forced into the army or into public works and improvement teams. It’s pretty eerie so far. I’ll be sure to talk about it at more length once I’ve finished.

Hey all. I know, I promised an update every day and forgot yesterday. Bah. Anyway, Battlestar Galactica is on Sci-Fi channel today, and I got inspired to do a little Photoshop Magic. So what would happen if Lieutenant Starbuck started a coffee chain when the Galactica found earth?

Okay, this update is going to just have a few quick observations and stuff. I know I’ve been doing a bad job of keeping this updated. Seem to be saying that alot lately. I promise I’ll do an update every day this week. Promise.

Mistress Morbydjia WARNING If you are epileptic, prone to seizures of any kind, have a heart condition or are pregnant, you might not want to view this site. Gah!! I’m going to have bad web page design nightmares for weeks now!
This is just gonna be short and random I think. First off, did an interview yesterday. It was with Primerica (part of Citigroup). Basically, I would have been just a salesmen, getting people and doign financial analyses and consolidation loans and life insurance and investments and stuff. That’s not my speed even though the pay might be really good that’s just not my speed at all. Pay is based on comission, it’s all suits and sales and stuff. Just can’t do it. So I’m going to keep looking. I just can’t rightly do something that I plain wouldn’t be happy with.
