General stuff and NFL Week 3 Picks

Well, my NFL picking is going QUITE well this year. I’m 23-6 so far after last week’s 11-3 outing. This week is gonna be tougher I think. The games are alot harder to get a feel for. We’ll see how it goes. This week’s picks are here. [editor’s note: nfl picks were lost awhile ago.]

In general stuff, the job at Borders has been going okay. The pay is crap, but it’s keeping me busy and not so bored. I’m going to try and look for a job with Borders’ corporate office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We’ll see if anything comes of that. My luck…..

God Blass America? & Misguided Patriotism

The events of this week are bringing out the best and worst of alot of people in this country and the world. Today’s entry is about the rampant patriotism which in some cases is misguided.

Why did this tragedy happen? There are multiple answers.
The simple answer: 18 wackos with knives commandeered 4 planes and wrecked them into symbols of American power and wealth.

Slightly more complicated: Some actions of the American government have upset a group of people across the world that has no regard for hguman life and believs that by taking more lives they can “get revenge” and stop us.

The complicated answer: America has a history is fuckign with things they shouldn’t, or killing innocent people when they feel it’s justified, but then condemning it when others do it.

The Morning After

Well, welcome to a new and different world. It wasn’t a dream. I had all sorts of dreams that were really crazy last night, but it can’t even come close to being on par with the nightmares of the people who lived through this or thlack of dreams of the victims.

In the meantime, Give blood (contact your local Red Cross). Also, if you can afford it, Amazon’s Honor System and Paypal have set up accounts where 100% of the finds raised goes directly to the National Disaster Releif Fund of the American Red Cross. $498,000 have been raised on Amazon so far, and you can reload and watch the numbers going up by $100 or so each time. Amazing. I guess this is truly bringing out the best in many people.

Unbeleivable

I’m at a total loss to explain my feelings right now. I’ve wanted to write this update ever since I was woken up by my mom at 10am to tell me to turn on the TV. I wanted to write something when I got home from work (my new job at Borders Bookstore). I just haven’t known what to say, so I’m gonna start with generalization, go on to my thoughts on the tragedy, my thoughts and hopes for a reaction (by people and governments) and my personal reflections. I just have so much going through my head about all this and I’ve got to organize it somehow…

Interview and Anger

Well, I’m back from teh Interview and trek out to the boonies where the job would be if I get an offer and take it.

And that my friends is the problem. You see, this town is Marsailles, Illinois. Population 4000. Middle of nowhere. Surrounded by CORN. 15 minutes East is a town of 2000. 15 minutes West is a town of 17,000. And let me tell you, it looks pretty damn rural/rednecky. Much like Tipton County in Indiana where I’m from. I think I’m bored now and can’t make friends or find a a girlfriend in Indianapolis!! Imagine trying to have a life in that place!!! I want to live somewhere where I can at least have some semblance of a life. Like now, I don’t do alot, but I can go to starbucks and have coffee and read, go to a nice bar for a drink, go downtown to a sporting eve, etc. All as close as 5 minutes and as far as 30 minutes. In Marsasilles, Illinois, I’d be an hour away from even the furthest west of Chicago, on a good traffic day. It took me an hour and a half to get from O’Hare to Marsailles and that was just after rush hour. I don’t want to be bored. I don’t want to have no friends. I don’t want to be single for however long I decide to live there.

Off To An Interview

Well, I’m getting ready to head off for Chicago for an interview. It’s for a job in a little town in the middle of nowhere, Illinois though. We’ll see. I’m not that excited about location, but it could be a good opportunity. I’ll make sure to post when I get back, but it might be real late, as I’m going to drive by said podunk town (Marseilles, IL) to check it out.

Why Can’t I Get A Job?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Well, Borders was supposed to call by today about a job. Guess what. They didn’t. I guess I can’t even get a job at a freakin’ bookstore!! WHY IS MY LIFE SUCH A LIVING HELL?!?!?

Okay, now that I have that off my chest… anyone want to sponsor a poor unemployed 23 year old guy who just wants a good home and high speed internet access? I’m eagerly seeking investment from people with too much money. :) (more…)
