SOme members of the government are saying they beleive home grown extremists are behind the Anthrax attacks. It’s not Bush or Ashcroft saying that for sure - they still think it’s Bin Laden. Heaven forbid that one of their own right-wing extremist groups (some of the people that it looks likeit might have been) did this. Check out the story here.
Tom De Lay, the House Majority Whip, as now appeared with Pat Robertson (the religious wacko who said that the attacks were God’s punishment on us and we deserved it) on TV. And you know what he said? That the attacks are “unfortuante” but an “opportunity” for the US to turn towards God and basically push forward extreme right wing causes such as anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-pornography, pro-tax cuts for the rich and anti-everything. How SAD for a politician to use this TRAGEDY (not just “unfortuante”) to push forward their extremist ideals onto a country that is based on the freedom of religion (or from it if that is your choice). Pathetic. Check out the transcript here and go to Media Whores Online for more disturbing coverage on the selling out of the media to the right wing, and other scary right wing things.
Well, I’m sending out more emails today. I’m about ready to just give up. Nothing. I keep getting “we want mroe experience” blah blah blah fucking blah. I’m NEVER goign to find a job at this rate!!! Oh well.. I guess that’s life (or some other stupid pseudo-optimist crap).
Here’s a good article that will REALLY piss of Republicans. And I agree with it.
“#6 Al Gore would not be waging class warfare from above. He would not be sending the children of working families to fight and die, while passing unconscionable tax giveaways to the rich. He would be fighting for full unemployment benefits for the millions affected by the recession, which is not only the correct moral policy - but also the wise economic policy. He would support an appropriate short-term stimulus, but not a tax giveaway that would devastate the federal budget for a decade.”
I have no idea why I titled the update “Arrrrgh”…. it must be the crack again. Anyway, it’s been a long day today. Got up this morning and went down to IUPUI’s Herron School of Art gallery to see Liz (an online buddy). Was a cool time. They have an exhibit from the Hallmark Collection, which is something like the largest corporate owned collection of art (or oldest, something like that). Anyway,t hey had maybe 20 photographs, all pretty modern (in the 90’s or 2000). All pretty damn good too. Got a bit of a lesson from Liz as well as to some of the techniques (although I have to ask her some things again after she’s taken her photography classes :).

gotta say, one thing abotu working in a bookstore is some of the interesting books you run across. My hated enemy of the bookstore is the Self Help section. What the hell is up with those books? I could write a book called “Inspiration From A Marmot On Changing Your Life” and fill it with ‘inspiring’ stories and it would sell!! I’ve never understood. Then tonight, Nicole and I go to the ‘enemy’ (Barnes & Noble) and we find a book (I forget what it’s called) where you could pretty much trace all health problems to bad thoughts. My favorite was the cause of herpes is guilt over thoughts of sex. Riiiiiiiight. Also, my back pains (more later on that) are because I feel guilty about the past. Ummmm sure. Whatever. I totally don’t understand how people think that some book can tell you how to fix all your problems and make your life better. NO!! Everyone’s answers on how to make life better are different. What may (someday I hope) fix my problems may not do jack shit for someone else, even if our problems and situations are similar. We’re unique and so are the solutions to our problems. Duh.

Make sure to stop by on Halloween when I am going to take part in Wander-Lust’s Halloween Party. I’m probably not goign to do a TON. What I’ll more than likely do is dress up Mr. Rant down in the left corner and write about the two times I’ve seen a ghost.
BOO!!!
That concert I went to with Nicole yesterday was really good. It was a piano concert by James Lent, who’s 28 but already has his PhD in music! he played a cool variety of stuff, both old and new. He’s incredibly good. My favorite piece he played was a more modern piece by Gyorgy Ligeti called “Descordre” (Discord). It had all sorts of crazy stuff, like each hand playing different tempos and left hand playing only black keys and right hand only white… crazy, but really cool.
This concert was put on by Kokomo Community Concerts, which brings soem cultured kinda stuff into town there. Nicole is on the Board of Directors for it, so afterward we went to some reception thing where the pianist was there and all sorts of rich older people there. Met a couple people who know my grandfather (dad’s side) so that broke some ice here and there. Nicole says I did very well. lol. It was pretty cool though, the whole socializing thing. I’m certianly no social butterfly, but formal kinda stuff I can pull it off when I need to.

My picks for this week are up. I’m 48-24 (or something like that) so far, so I’m not doing too bad. I’m better than all but one ESPN analyst on ESPN.com, so that ain’t half bad!!! [editor’s note: NFL picks are no longer available]
I’m going to a piano concert thing with Nicole today. It’s up in Kokomo, so I gotta get a shower, put out the trash, start the dishwasher, and get out of here in a couple hours so we can meet up and do that. Should be fun, I think. Might go to a movie afterwards. Depends on time. I have to be at Borders at 9pm tonight for some two hour staff meeting. Blah… I’d love to skip out, but it wouldn’t look good, especially since I’m gonna apply to corporate soon. Oh well, such is life. Later tonight I may post some stuff about the piano thing or whatever, depending on how much time I have.
Well, I best be getting a move on and stuff.
Well, I’ve got a busy day ahead of me it seems. I didn’t get to sleep in nearly as much as I would have liked. I really need about 12 hours of sleep. Myabe tonight. I’m headed to Carmel H.S. to watch my sister march at Regional competition real soon, then I’ll work from 3pm until 11pm tonight at Borders. Blah. I hate that shift.
I went and saw From Hell last night with Kyleane. Good movie. Not really scary, but all around creepy and stuff.

I know, I’m a total slacker when it comes to my website lately. There just hasn’t been all that much goign on, especially since the weekend is over and during the week I’ve just been working. Had some real bitchy customers today. People were generally in a really foul mood today. One woman ddid tell me a funny anthrax story though (yes, a funny anthrax story).
It seems this woman called 911 and had the police come out and look at her bookcase becuase it had a white powder all over it. She thought it was anthrax. Know what it turned out to be? DUST. From THREE YEARS of not reading any of the books. This is the kinda crap you gotta laugh at or your brain will explode if you think about it too hard. People are so STUPID.
My dad wrote a REALLY good email to some people that REALLY sums up my thoughts onhow we need to be diligent about not letting the government take away freedoms we do not want to lose in the name of “safety”. I hope he doesn’t mind me posting it here:

Well, I’m back from the game. Have been for awhile but I’ve been too upset to write my update. I did have a great time really. The seats weren’t so bad. High up in the corner, but really could see everything just fine. The crowd was way too… passive in the first half. Too many Raiders fans there (outloaw ticket scalping in Indiana, please!!!). Second half, when the game was getting really close, Leah and I were standing up and cheering and other people aroudn us were following suit. That was pretty cool. A guy a few sections over and a number of rows down was getting the wave going. I Think our section (despite having a bunch of Raiders fans in it) was alot of fun!
