In Vain

Wow, this new site dNext looks great. Their description:

dNeXT is a next generation public affairs news & opinion web site – democracy in 60 seconds or less. At a time of ever-expanding, text-driven political sites, dNeXT.com was launched in 2005, as the world’s first portal to short, intriguing and entertaining “viditorials” (video editorials) on a wide range of subjects in the news. The primary content on dNeXT.com consists of issue-focused, opinion & parody content created by both staff and outside contributors.

Go check it out and play the video on the left (at leas the one that is on the left as of this posting) and watch our Born Again Jeebustian Fearless Leader take Jesus’ name in vain. I guess it’s one of those “do as I say not as I do” sort of things, hmmmmmm?

Some more randomness below the More….

Oh, this is nice. Via today’s Cheers & Jeers on Kos:

JEERS to stiffing the troops. Democrats wanted to add $2 billion to an $80 billion emergency supplemental wartime appropriations bill. The intended recipient: cash-strapped VA hospitals dealing with an influx of Iraq war veterans with horrific injuries. The money was voted down by every Republican senator except Arlen Specter (gold star for you, sir).

Support our troops, eh?

Good on Connecticut for passing a civil unions bill. Quick question to any fundies reading this: I know you get yourself all in a panty-bunched state over gay marriage, the whole “goes against Jeebus” thing and the chanting of “God hates fags” that is just so endearing. But what’s wrong with civil unions? How do two men or two women getting married or “civil unioned” hurt you or your marriage? I really don’t get it. And I’m honest when I say I want someone to tell me why. (But please, speak coherently with a minimum of all caps words and phrases like “because God says so nya nya.”)

Good names for newly discovered species of slime-mold beetles? “A. bushi Miller and Wheeler, A. cheneyi Miller and Wheeler and A. rumsfeldi Miller and Wheeler” Nice.

Back on the healthcare bandwagon, Kash has another great post at Angry Bear looking at the “But Those Socialists Have Long Wait Times” boogey man and shows that it’s not nationalized health care that causes wait times but other factors such as number of beds, method of specialist payment, percentage elderly, etc. Nothing to do with the fact that it’s socialized medicine of some sort (from just nationalized insurance to the whole shebang). In fact France, the one everyone wants to deride, has no significant wait times for major elective procedures and minimal out of pocket cost to the consumer (~$10 per day). Compare that to our “best healthcare in the world”…

If you haven’t been reading Kash’s series (with an assist by Angry Bear himself) on Health Care you really really should.

These are must read.

John Hinderaker, a.k.a. Hindrocket, a.k.a. Assrocket is an asshole. Seems that troops complaining about not having enough sandbags to protect themselves from grenades and the like need to just shut up and get ‘em themselves. Too bad pompous windbags like Mr. Blog Of The Year (That Makes Shit Up) can’t replace the needed sandbags.
