Bilerico Wants To See Our Dirty Underbellies

Bilerico (local blogger who made the bigtime extraordinaire) is pissed about idiot bigots bringing back the gay marriage ban amendment and damnit he’s not going to take it lying down anymore. And I’m within ‘em on it.

It’s time to expose the hypocrisy of these bigots. In Bil’s words:

Consider this a call to arms gossip. (We’re gay, we can do this tastefully and without violence! *grins*) I want to know the scoop. Tell me the stories that will embarrass those conservative bigots that are backing a constitutional ban on our formalized relationships. Send me gossip about who’s a philanderer, a kink fiend, a drug addict, a porn addict, or had a divorce, an abortion or even a stay in rehab. Ask your friends and family for the dirt. Look it up on the internet. Sniff out a lead and send it my way.

I specifically want to learn more about the alleged blowjob one of our married legislators got caught receiving in the Statehouse parking lot. I also want to know more about the single legislator (with the biggest “gay face” in the Statehouse!) who supposedly got all of his money after a rich non-related older man died and left it all to him. Rumor has it that there’s a northern Indiana legislator who’s in the closet and a female lawmaker who allegedly had an abortion or two but still ranks as a Super Christian with the Right to Life. I’ve heard that a couple out-of-town legislators have been spotted visiting the Unicorn Club and the gay baths and that several have a fondness for blow. Do you know who they are? Will you tell me?

I couldn’t agree more. It’s a bit distasteful but damnit the hypocrisy is getting beyond annoying to downright hateful. It’s time to shed a light on that underbelly.

Star VP/Editor Ryerson to speak at Indiana Democratic Club tonight

Tonight’s IDC meeting will feature Indianapolis Star VP/Editor Dennis Ryerson. The last time he came it was a great meeting with some very good questions and I have no doubt that tonight’s will be the same.

Ed Treacy steps down as MCDP Chair

In news that certainly surprised me (although my finger is FAR from the pulse) Ed Treacy stepped down as the Marion County Democratic party Chair. he’s been replaced by former Indianapolis Deputy Mayor Michael O’Connor. AN interesting (and good, I believe) pick given his close ties to Mayor Peterson. I just hope he can build close ties with the county Democratic Clubs without the adversarial attitude that Treacy seemed to have (in my limited experience)

What I’ve Been Writing

My writing has mostly been taking place over at Charlie Weis Ate My Baby since it launched. I’m in much more of a sports mode, what with the NFL Playoffs happening. Anyway, what have I been writing over at CWAMB? Here are my faves so far.

You can access all of my posts at CWAMB here

Charlie Weis Ate My Baby

I have a new web project I’m working on. This one is a sports blog called Charlie Weis Ate My Baby. Yes, you read that right. Name comes from a url idea that CJ had that we agreed would make a great sports blog title. So there you go.

Anyway, I’m looking for people to become writers on CWAMB. I have a few people signed up to do occaisional writing (CJ, Ricky & Shawn) but I’d like some more. I want to convince a couple other not-already-blogging friends who are much more knowledgeable about sports to join the list of writers.

If you are interested, let me know in the comments. If you can point me to any blog entries, forum posts or comments on blogs where you’ve already written about sports even better. You’ll pretty much have a free hand at whatever you want to write about (Ricky watches Sumo, so we have an occaisional sumo blogger!).

There’s not much there yet, just a couple things I’ve posted (one is a partial re-post of an entry here on X-Tra Rant). Let me know what you think and if you’d liek to help out!

Dear Libertarians,

Dear Libertarians,
Where the fuck are you? When is Bush’s expanding powers and insertion of the federal government into every aspect of your li fe in order to “fight terrorists” goign to piss you off?

The latest: “President Bush has quietly claimed sweeping new powers to open Americans’ mail without a judge’s warrant, the Daily News has learned.

Nice. Bush thinks he can spy on American citizens on their phone, in their mail and any way he pleases.

New Beers Eve

So I didn’t get to all 8 of them on New Years Eve, but I did drink 4 of them and will try to remember enough to ‘review’ them here. I’ll get to the other four soon I hope.

  1. Bornem Double Abbey Ale
Beer Advocate Review (I think it’s this one but there appears to be some confusion. 85)

Ohhhhh this was EXCELLENT. I loved it. Had a light, almost fizzy, quality to it. Not over hoppy or malty. Just a very light, refreshing beer. Would DEFINTIELY buy again (and probably will soon). 8 out of 10.
  2. Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout
    Beer Advocate review 82

Eh. Pretty weak for a stout. Tasted almost watery and didn’t have that heavy taste that I normally like from my stouts. There are much better oatmeal stouts out there (especially Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout). 4 out of 10.
  3. Morland Hen’s Tooth Bottle Conditioned English Ale
    Beer Advocate review 81

Pretty nice! Quite malty, very smooth with a really rich aftertaste. I thought it actually started tasting better as it warmed up a bit. A fun beer to try and mayeb have now and then. 7 out of 10.
  4. Nine G Brewing Infidel Imperial IPA (an Indiana beer! from South Bend)
    Beer Advocate review 85

Ohhhh now THAT is a beer! VERY hoppy with a great bitter hops kick to it. I adored this beer, and it’s an Indiana beer to boot! 9 out of 10.

Slumming: WorldNetDaily

So I’m slumming it and reading through the WingNutDaily. Oh what a collection of crazy that is.

Theres the review/recommendation of a book that sets the creation of the earth at Octover 23rd, 4004 B.C. (Never mind that pesky “elements decay at a steady rate and it’s physically impossible for the Earth to be that young” thing). I don’t know about you, but all science and learning since the 1650’s can be ignored easily </sarcasm>

There’s the crazy talk radio host who’s talking about assassinating members of Congress. That’s not illegal at all. Not crazy either. Nope. perfectly sane. Nothing to see here. What, there’s a brown person who said something negative about the assistant to the secretary of the assistant secretary of housing and urban development? LOCK HIM UP!!!!

Oh and hey, can’t forget the raving lunatic conspiracy theories of a North American Union. Love the “highlights” of the article that really are just questions from raving racists and xenophobes and no real proof at all about anyone actually wanting this, let along planning it. Reminds me of the old “New World Order/UN/Black Helicopters” conspiracy theories. Good times!!

Ahhhhh WND, I can count on you to make me remember that there are people in the world that are certifiably crazy yet somehow function in their daily lives.
