Awesome! My favorite reality show that is ACTUALLY reality and about REAL surviving is coming back. Survivorman, with Les Stroud. Season 2 starts August 10th. Sweeeet.

Update: Definitely still going with Conan Lea. It’ll be worth the wait, and fitting that Orion will be high in the sky once his waiting list frees up.

So I’m still on the waiting list for my tattoo. Looks like it won’t be until the end of the year before I get in. Debating looking around a bit more, but we’ll see. Anyway starting to gather ideas and impressions. Still wanting to do a constellation theme with Orion as the centerpiece. Now thinking of it eventually expanding to an upper arm sleeve with constellation theme with possible a couple trails of stars/nebula/gasses down to my elbow or just past.

As for impressions, pictures I like, stuff like that I’ll post them here so I have them in one place. Warning: lots and lots of links to pictures.

First off, Orion. I love this photograph of it and how it pulls out the colors of the different stars in it. Also, since the starts of the constellation might get lost int eh general background since they are relatively small to the structure of the nebula they might have to be bigger than scale. So here’s an idea maybe for some look that could be applied to the stars.

Now for a bunch of pictures that give me impressions of what I’d like or just things I like as ideas for the background/themes to tie it together. Not sure how much any given one will mean the most to the eventual design. that’s what the artist is for. heh but these are at least things I saw and said “ooh that could be cool!” I got almost all of them from Astronomy Picture of The Day and some from the same place I got the Orion picture, Astrophotography by Joe Morris.

So maybe by that you can get an idea of what I want. I’m hoping the artist can too. Whether I stick with Conan Lea and wait it out or find someone sooner and a bit cheaper I’m not sure. He’ll be really expensive, but his work on this spiral galaxy tattoo really makes me think he can pull off the nebulous idea in my head (har har har, pun intended). So we shall see.

If you have any recommendations for a tattoo artist in central indiana who can pull off something like this and do it well, feel free to leave a comment. or if you have any comments about my idea and the pictures I like as possible background/theme, also feel free to leave one.

Speaking of, I feel like I have pulled a reverse-Ray lately (if you don’t read the comic Achewood, why the hell not?).

In honor of the 4th of July (and via Ricky), I took a sample quiz such as those applying for citizenship take (although there is the advantage of multiple choice). I passed, missing only the question about which form to fill out to apply for citizenship.
