Hero Cain Velasquez accused of attempted murder

Velasquez has been charged with shooting another man who was being treated for life-threatening injuries in San Jose.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is facing a charge of premeditated murder. The San Jose Police Department confirmed in a statement that Velasquez was arrested in San Jose, California, Monday night after shooting a person.

As for the person who shot him, he was taken to the hospital and treated for serious, life-threatening injuries.
The statement stated that so far, the motives for the problem and its details are under investigation, and they have not disclosed anything else.

Velazquez (14-3) has long been considered among the greatest weightlifters in mixed martial arts, a distinction he may have held on his own if not for the multiple injuries that have disrupted his career. Velazquez went on a perfect 9-0 run, including a first-round knockout of Pride and UFC legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, to clinch the UFC heavyweight crown by defeating Brock Lesnar via a first-round TKO.

He faltered in his first title defense against Junior dos Santos, but regained the crown against dos Santos and defeated his opponent in the triple match.

Velasquez suffered several knee injuries one after the other, and those injuries were in his last mixed martial arts fight, which greatly hampered his motivation and times as a fighter. He only fought three times between October.

September 20, 2013 and September 17, 2019. Velasquez officially retired from MMA in October. On September 19, 2019, he lost in Destiny by a quick knockout to Frances Ngannou.
The Mexican-American fighter has finally made the transition to top wrestling, making his debut with the Lucha Libre AAA World League. Velasquez had a brief stint in WWE, entering a short program with UFC rival Brock Lesnar.

The runner was crowned at the 2019 Crown Jewel event. Lesnar successfully defended the WWE Championship against Velazquez in a short one-sided match.

Velasquez was also an NCAA Division I heavyweight wrestler on the board, finishing fourth in the 2006 NCAA Championship and fifth in 2005.
